April 3, 2014 – GDF SUEZ, through La Compagnie du Vent (60% subsidiary) and Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (49.97%), has been selected to develop 10 solar photovoltaic projects on the ground or in carports under a National Competitive Bidding. GDF SUEZ welcomes this announcement which attests to the quality of the projects submitted to the government and the relevance of its development model.
With these 10 projects with a total capacity of 53.35 MWp, GDF SUEZ confirms its objective today operate 200 MWp in France in 2016. To date, the Group has indeed 149 MWp photovoltaic operation, under construction or in advanced development in the country.
Of these 10 projects, four are on the technology of “trackers” (photovoltaic panels installed on mobile structures following the movement of the sun), both use 50% of photovoltaic panels concentration (using a magnifying effect on the panels to further concentrate the sunlight) and four are for installations on parking shade structures. Their construction is planned for 2014-2015 for updates in 2015 and early 2016.
GDF SUEZ, La Compagnie du Vent and Compagnie Nationale du Rhône want to contribute actively to the development of an industrial sector in France and job creation. The projects selected under this solicitation as such are exemplary in terms of dialogue, respect for the environment and local involvement:
●Close and regular collaboration with local communities and government departments to promote maximum local acceptance.
●Development of diverse projects and adapted to each territory, without impact to the environment and without any conflict of use, especially in agriculture.
●Use industrial sector in France in each project. The photovoltaic modules will be used for example all made in France.
This selection to tender reflects the competitiveness of GDF SUEZ in the solar photovoltaic and strengthens the Group’s ambition in its development, and more generally in renewable energies.
